The Beginning of Kindergarten
Friedrich Frobel, of Germany, was the founder of the kindergarten – meaning garden of children. The Frobel kindergarten is based on German Idealist philosophy that explored the individual and natural world. The first kindergarten was based on natural play things/toys, songs and dance that promoted cooperative members of the community, and play for all children at all social and ability levels. His philosophy was based on free self-activity, creativity, social participation, and motor expression.
